Marshawn Lynch ruled out for Seahawks on Sunday

The Seahawks will fight through another week without the help of Marshawn Lynch.

The team announced Friday that their workhorse running back has been ruled out against the Cincinnati Bengals with the hamstring injury that kept Lynch from facing the Lions on Monday night.

It's an unexpected turn of events after Seahawks coach Pete Carroll previously labeled Lynch as week-to-week. The veteran back hasn't played since first tweaking the hamstring against the Bears in Week 3.

"He is running very well, but he's just getting over it," Carroll said Friday. "We just have to wait a couple more days."

The focus now shifts to Fred Jackson, who is questionable with an ankle injury of his own. Jackson will work out prior to kickoff, but Carroll expressed hope on Friday that the former Bills star will play, saying: "You just can't figure out how he's doing it, but he looks ready to go."

If Jackson can't suit up, undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls is headed for a generous workload against Geno Atkins and Cincy's stout defensive line.

Losing Lynch has deflated Seattle's once-dominant ground attack. While still ranking seventh behind a questionable line, the Seahawks have yet to score a rushing touchdown and -- at 128.0 yards per game -- sit nearly 45 yards off their running pace from 2014.

With another week of rest, the hope is that Lynch will be ready to rumble against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
