Panthers place Charles Johnson on IR boomerang

The Panthers will be without defensive end Charles Johnson until at least Thanksgiving.

The team placed the 29-year-old veteran on IR boomerang Tuesday due to a significant hamstring injury he sustained in a win over the Saints on Sunday.

The earliest Johnson will be able to take the field again will be a Nov. 26 matchup against Dallas.

This further validates Monday's trade for Bears defensive end Jared Allen, who will no doubt slide into the vacancy left behind by Johnson. Allen will be back at his natural position and might even provide a lift to the Carolina pass rush.

Johnson logged a sack and a handful of hurries through three games.
