Cam Newton crashes Halloween party, surprises fan

Given that we incessantly track when NFL players mess up, it's only fair to highlight when one spends his Friday night doing good deeds in the community.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton crashed a Halloween party Friday night and brought some ice cream with him. The street party in Concord, N.C., was for 10-year-old Elijah, who is battling a rare form of cancer.

Elijah's favorite holiday is Halloween; the party was held a month early because doctors aren't sure the boy will make it to Oct. 31.

Newton heard about the event and decided to surprise Elijah, who is also a big Auburn fan.

"As a mom it absolutely melts your heart," Becky Hughes, Elijah's mom, told WCNC. "It brings tears to my eyes."

This is how a Pro Bowl quarterback spent his Friday night:

The Panthers, 2-0, host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
