Bradford 'confident' in Eagles' turnaround on offense

The dead-on-arrival Eagles offense has Philly fans wondering if the team will finally get on track this Sunday against the New York Jets. Quarterback Sam Bradford has no doubt.

"I'm very confident," Bradford said Wednesday, per Darryl Slater of NJ.com. "I've got no doubt in my mind. I think you look at some of the things that we did during training camp, some of the things that we did during preseason, what some of these guys have done here in the past, and we know that we're capable of it."

The surprising fault with the Eagles' offense has been their wretched ground game. We ranked Philly's backfield as best in the league over the summer, but DeMarco Murray has only 11 yards over two games while Ryan Mathews has just four. Darren Sproles has been the team's top weapon out of the backfield.

As for Bradford, his performance against the Cowboys more closely recalled the overly conservative passer who toiled with the Rams instead of the quarterback we saw during Philly's sensational preseason.

"I'm not sure if it was a matter of us pressing a little bit in the first two games, trying to make plays, and trying to do more than we needed to do," Bradford said. "But I think that we are very capable of coming out and doing those little things, because we have done them right before."

Hoping to reverse fortunes, the Eagles couldn't have dreamed up a tougher opponent than the Jets. Unlike last year's pushover outfit under Rex Ryan, this season's New York squad leads the league with 10 takeaways in two games. More importantly, they're shutting down the run and making life a raging nightmare for quarterbacks.

Philly gets all the focus, but Gang Green's defense is the unit worth talking about. Sunday's matchup is fascinating for what it will tell us about Bradford and the Eagles along with the rise of this overlooked Jets club.
