Injuries: Bill O'Brien doesn't think Foster plays Sunday

The winless Eagles finally caught a break Wednesday when Chip Kelly announced Kiko Alonso had a sprained knee and not a torn ACL.

There was fear in Philadelphia that the linebacker could be lost for the season. Now, Alonso could be back as soon as Sunday against the Jets.

"We're evaluating this week what he can and can't do. Status uncertain for Sunday," Kelly said during his news conference.

Alonso's injury is to the same knee that was surgically repaired following an ACL tear in the summer of 2014. Alonso also tore his right ACL in college and underwent hip surgery earlier in 2014.

The Eagles were hopeful Alonso could regain his rookie form when he recorded 87 tackles for the Bills.

Only time will tell if Kelly's bold move to send LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for Alonso pays off.

Here are other injuries we've been tracking Wednesday:

  1. Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he doesn't thinkArian Foster (groin) will play Sunday against the Buccaneers. Foster was limited Wednesday in practice.

"He is really looking good at practice," O'Brien said. "I'm not sure about this week. He will be back sooner rather than later."

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins did not practice due to a concussion.

  1. Eagles running back DeMarco Murray left practice with a hamstring injury. Tests revealed that Murray has a tweaked hamstring, according to Rapoport.
  1. Lions coach Jim Caldwell is taking a "we'll see" approach to Matthew Stafford's status for Sunday against the Broncos. Stafford injured his ribs -- and took 10 hits -- in a loss to the Vikings. Stafford was a full participant at practice.

  1. Darrelle Revis (groin), who's coming off a big Monday night performance, did not practice. Revis' groin is sore but it's not believed to be serious, per Rapoport.
