Raiders claim CB David Amerson off waivers

David Amerson wasn't unemployed for long.

The cornerback was picked up by the Oakland Raiders off waivers on Tuesday, the team announced Tuesday. The news comes just one day after he was released by the Washington Redskins.

Amerson didn't play in the Redskins' win over the Rams and had fallen out of favor with the new regime in Landover. Amerson was drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft out of North Carolina State, but finished his Redskins career with just two interceptions and one forced fumble in 33 games.

The Raiders hope that Amerson can shore up a secondary that has allowed 653 passing yards in two home games and has struggled to cover tight ends in open space.
