Darrelle Revis delivers vintage performance vs. Colts

You won't hear anybody saying the Jets overpaid to bring back Darrelle Revis after Monday night.

The All-Pro cornerback reminded the football world that, at 29, he remains a transformative force for any defense he inhabits. The Jets forced five turnovers in their 20-7 road win over the Colts, and Revis was involved with three of the takeaways, recovering two fumbles and gobbling up one of Andrew Luck's three interceptions on the night.

Those were the glamour plays, but Revis also added his signature pass coverage and -- with the exception of one notable T.Y. Hilton stiff-arm -- his usual sure-tackling.

"This is why we brought him back," linebacker Calvin Pace said after the game, via ESPN.com. "It was sad to see him go for a couple of years. He's the best in the game at his position."

If Revis is the rising tide of the Jets secondary, consider Buster Skrine one of the lifted boats. Skrine, signed away from the Browns in the offseason, added solid coverage and set up Luck's first interception with a well-timed slot blitz in the first quarter. Antonio Cromartie looked far from 100 percent in his return from a knee injury, but the Jets didn't allow a point until the fourth quarter.

Revis is the key.

"He's one of the best defensive players I've ever seen," linebacker David Harris said. "He's the man."
