Dolphins trade CB Will Davis to Ravens

The Ravens are getting proactive in an effort to shore up a secondary that paved the way for Derek Carr's career game in Week 2.

The Miami Dolphins have traded cornerback Will Davis to Baltimore, the team announced. Miami will receive a late-round draft pick, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, via a source informed of the deal.

Drafted No. 93 overall in 2013, Davis is returning from an ACL injury that ended his 2014 season last November. He has played 15 games without a start in two NFL seasons.

"Obviously, he is coming off of an injury and we've seen development over the last five weeks," coach Joe Philbin said early this month, "and so we think there will be some more development there from a physical standpoint."

The Dolphins have been shopping Davis since the end of the preseason.

The trade suggests the Ravens' scouting department had a high grade on Davis coming out of Utah State. Considering his size and skill set, Davis profiles as a nickel or dime corner behind Jimmy Smith, Ladarius Webb and Kyle Arrington in Baltimore.
