Bills-Patriots rivalry continues to provide headlines

It's only Thursday morning, and yet, check out the headline assortment we have to choose from in advance of Sunday's Bills-Patriots game:

» Julian Edelman says, "We're not in high school."

» Rex Ryan says he likes Julian Edelman's new haircut.

Every game, all season

» Rex Ryan, when asked if he's learned Dion Lewis' name yet, says, "Yeah, it's (LeGarrette) Blount."

» Rex Ryan says he respects the Patriots, but he certainly doesn't fear them.

This, of course, is just a day after Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus said that nobody likes the Patriots. There are two more days of media access to go.

While Ryan's team is riding high and came away with a signature win on opening weekend, it would seem he needs to be careful here. Back in his Jets days, his trash talk seemed a little more pointed and meaningful. In one epic lead in to a playoff battle that Ryan and the Jets won, he made the entire week about him against Belichick to take the pressure off his players.

This week, it's far more entertaining but a little less substantive. The Bills are going to be a team that thrives on confidence, but Ryan is 4-9 all time against Belichick. Beating the Patriots would elevate them to another stratosphere of self-assurance. Losing in a significant way could put them back at square one.
