The team announced Monday that an MRI exam on Cromartie's injured left knee came back negative and that the cornerback is listed as week-to-week. Cromartie has not been ruled out of the team's Monday night matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Cromartie hyperextended his knee, according to a source informed of the player's condition.

It's a best-case scenario prognosis for Cromartie, who appeared to suffer a potential season-ending injury when his knee buckled during Sunday's 31-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Cromartie remained down on the field for several minutes after collapsing to the turf and was carted to the locker room, a towel draped over his head.

Cromartie has been remarkably durable during his career, but it could be overly optimistic to expect him to be on the field against the Colts. Marcus Williams performed well in Cromartie's place on Sunday, breaking up three passes to go with an interception of Johnny Manziel.

In other news, Jets rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin has been released from the hospital after suffering a concussion against the Browns. Mauldin was removed from the field on a spinal board and transported to a hospital in the fourth quarter. His availability going forward is unknown.
