Stevie Brown's magical voyage to the Big Apple was a brief one.
The New York Giants announced Monday they had cut the veteran safety, making roster room for the signing of fellow backstop Craig Dahl.
Brown inked a deal with Big Blue last week after being released by the Houston Texans. After starting eight games for New York a year ago, Brown was a logical candidate for first-team snaps again in 2015, but the G-Men are more enamored with Dahl, who was released by San Francisco on Friday.
Hardly a difference-maker, Dahl appeared in 32 games for the Niners over the past two seasons after spending the previous four campaigns with the St. Louis Rams. He spent his first year in the NFL with the Giants in 2007.Â
It's not a good sign for Brown, who couldn't make the cut for a Giants team desperately looking for consistency at the safety position. The expectation now is that rookie Landon Collins and third-year defender Cooper Taylor will start Sunday night's opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
