Harbaugh: Breshad Perriman has 'chance' to play Wk 1

The uncertainty of the Baltimore Ravens' receiving corps mounts as the 2015 season approaches.

First-round pick Breshad Perriman was drafted to provide a deep threat alongside Steve Smith Sr. Instead, the rookie has been on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh was vague Saturday when asked whether Perriman would be ready to face the Denver Broncos a week from Sunday.

"I don't know. I really don't have the answer for that," Harbaugh said, via the team's official website. "I think he has a chance, yes. But whether it's to what degree, that's wide open right now. I don't know."

The 26th overall pick in the 2015 draft injured his knee the first day of training camp and hasn't been back more than five weeks later. The injury was initially characterized as a bruise by Harbaugh, but has since been reclassified as a sprain.

We don't expect Perriman to have a huge impact on the Ravens' offense out of the gate, even if he suddenly becomes healthy enough to play.

The Ravens' receiving corps has flown under the radar as one of the shakiest pass-catching units among AFC contenders. Outside of Smith Sr., Joe Flacco will rely on the likes of Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown to play big roles.
