Texans trade TE Khari Lee to Bears

Add another tick mark to the tally of low-level trades this week as teams swap spare parts that don't fit their NFL hot rods.

The Houston Texans shipped tight end Khari Lee to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2017, it was announced Wednesday. The Bears also parted ways with tight end Blake Annen.

The undrafted rookie has five catches for 71 yards in three preseason games.

Lee might be best known to the public by his hilarious Bill O'Brien impression during rookie skits, which air on Hard Knocks.

In Chicago, Lee will fight for a roster spot behind Martellus Bennett, Bear Pascoe, Zach Miller, Dante Rosario, among others. With the Bears lacking a consistent pass-catching complement to Bennett, Lee might have a shot to hang on the roster. NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein compared Lee to Larry Donnell.

With a deep tight end group in Houston, the Texans did well to get anything at all for an undrafted free agent they were likely to part with in the next round of cuts.
