The Miami Dolphins' secondary suffered a big blow Wednesday when safety Louis Delmas went down with a torn ACL in his right knee, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the injury.

Rapoport added that Delmas was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday to confirm the initial diagnosis.

Every game, all season

The former Lions standout, who signed a series of one-year deals with the Dolphins starting in 2014, was carted off the practice field during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers.

Per the Charlotte Observer, it was a non-contact injury on the same knee in which he tore his ACL against the Baltimore Ravens late last season. The issue forced him to injured reserve.

Delmas was slated to hold down the back end of Miami's secondary along with strong safety Reshad Jones.

After a solid 2014 that included 49 tackles, a pair of fumble recoveries and a pick returned 81 yards for a touchdown, the Dolphins were hoping the lingering knee issue wouldn't creep up again.

Here's the rest of Wednesday's injury news:

1. Falcons safety William Moore suffered a strained calf and is day to day and second-year defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman has a concussion, according to coach Dan Quinn.

2. The Panthers suffered a devastating blow when it was discovered that star receiver Kelvin Benjamin sustained a torn left ACL on Wednesday, according to Rapoport. It wasn't a good day in general for Carolina receivers as rookie wideout Devin Funchess tweaked his hamstring and could miss a few days, according to Ron Rivera.

3. Giants receiver Victor Cruz has a "little strain in the calf area" that is unrelated to last season's knee injury, according to coach Tom Coughlin, per the New York Daily News.

4. Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee is on schedule to return in two more weeks from a hamstring strain, according to coach Gus Bradley, per ESPN.

5. Cardinals guard Mike Iupati hurt his knee at practice Wednesday and will need to undergo arthroscopic surgery, a source who spoke to Iupati told Rapoport. He is expected to miss about six weeks.

6. Jets defensive tackle Mo Wilkerson was ruled out for Friday's preseason game against the Falcons by coach Todd Bowles, according to ESPN. Wilkerson is nursing a hamstring injury.

7. San Diego Charges RB Melvin Gordon has a minor ankle injury and might not play Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals, a source close to the situation told NFL Media's Rand Getlin.
