UCLA football signee Cordell Broadus, the son of rapper Snoop Dogg, has decided football isn't for him.
The former four-star recruit from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High has quit the team just days after the Bruins' fall camp began Monday, and Broadus had reportedly not yet arrived, although he was enrolled at the school for the summer term.
After the story was first reported by Scout.com, UCLA coach Jim Mora confirmed Broadus' intentions.
"Cordell informed me he's decided to pursue other passions in life ... his love of film through his company Film School Productions," Mora said in a statement.
It hasn't been the best of summers for three sons of rappers in the Pac-12.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, whose son Justin Combs is a reserve defensive back with the Bruins, was arrested in June after an altercation with UCLA strength coach Sal Alosi over the treatment of his son. A week ago, Naijiel Hale, the son of late rapper Nate Dogg, was dismissed at Washington by Huskies coach Chris Petersen. Hale indicated he will resume his college football career elsewhere.
Mora said Broadus will continue to pursue a degree at UCLA.
