'ITC Live' whispers: Friendly clash with Jets duo

» Linebacker Bobby Wagnersigned a four-year, $43 million extension with the Seahawks on Sunday. The two sides were close to getting a deal done, but put the "pause button" on the extension to get Russell Wilson's contract done, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. Wagner's deal makes him the highest paid middle linebacker in NFL history, and based on his comments Friday he thinks he deserves it.

» All eyes were on Amari Cooper in Oakland. The Raiders expect big things from their wide receiver out of Alabama. Cooper reminds Raiders general manager Reggie Mckenzie of a bigger Randall Cobb, per Rapoport.

The excitement continues on defense. The team believes they have a star in second-year linebacker Khalil Mack.

» Geno Smith has not thrown an interception thus far in training camp. Smith is still the leading candidate to win the Jets' starting QB job, according to NFL Media's Kimberly Jones.

Meanwhile, Darrelle Revis and Brandon Marshall had some fun competing against each other during training camp. NFL Media's Brian Baldinger said the two remind him of Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin going head-to-head.

» Chip Kelly said there are three phases to quarterback Sam Bradford's training camp agenda: medical rehab, performance rehab and preparing to play. The idea now is to move Bradford from the second phase to the third phase, per Rapoport. Kelly said Sunday that Bradford is on pace to play in the preseason, and the quarterback won't wear a knee brace. Bradford took first-string reps on Sunday.

The Eagles might not be done trading players. Rumor had it that linebacker Mychal Kendricks could be on the move too, according to Baldinger. But Kelly denied those rumors on Sunday, "Mychal Kendricks isn't going anywhere ... you can put that in ink."

» Former Eagles corner Brandon Boykin looked happy to be traded to the other side of Pennsylvania. The Steelers"actively pursued him,"Eagles coach Kelly said on Sunday. "I've always been a Brandon Boykin fan. I think he did an unbelievable job in the two and a half years that I was with him. I wish him nothing but success."

» Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett started with the first-team offense on Sunday, according to NFL Media's Omar Ruiz. QB Brian Hoyer took first-team reps on Saturday.

"Whenever he (Bill O'Brien) feels like someone is ready to be named the starter that's what he'll do, and whatever way it goes, I have really a lot of trust and faith in him. Whatever he decides will be best for the team," Hoyer told Ruiz.
