The Philadelphia Eagles dumped DeSean Jackson last offseason, which resulted in a swirl of rumors regarding the reason Chip Kelly cut a star receiver.
On Tuesday's debut episode of his new reality TV show, "DeSean Jackson Home Team" on BET, the current Washington Redskins receiver called out his former organization.
"When I was released by the Eagles, I feel they tried to paint a picture that definitely wasn't true. It was a slap in the face, coming off one of my best seasons in the NFL," Jackson said, via ESPN.com's John Keim.
"The Eagles tried to blow me up. That's cold how they did it," he told friends during the show, one of whom offered that Philadelphia tried to "persecute" Jackson.
A report from NJ.com surfaced last year prior to Jackson's release claiming the Eagles were concerned with the wideout's alleged gang connections. Jackson vehemently denied those allegations after his release.
Jackson believes the media's characterization of him following his release was unfair.Â
"I was at the top of the top. And then I got released. ... It was a smear campaign," he said. "Things media said about me, I bet you could say that about the majority of people in the NFL. I got a second chance to play in the NFL and I'm proving I'm one of the best receivers in the game."
The show might be about Jackson's "Home Team," but clearly the Eagles are living rent-free in the back of the wideout's mind.
Jackson hauled in nine passes for 243 yards (27.0 per catch) with a score versus the Eagles in 2014. The chip obviously still resides on his shoulder, meaning those NFC East matchups with Philly should be quite entertaining once again.
