Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley is in serious condition following a one-car accident Sunday in Columbia, Mo.
Brantley was driving on U.S. 63 south of Columbia Sunday afternoon when he went off the left side of the road, then overcorrected to the right and lost control of his 2000 Chrysler Concorde, striking a guard rail and overturning the vehicle, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report cited by stltoday.com. He was transported to University Hospital. His injuries include a tibia fracture which has been surgically repaired, left knee ligament damage and rib fractures, according to Gabe DeArmond of powermizzou.com.Â
Missouri women's basketball player Maddie Stock was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries, and was treated and released from the same hospital.
Brantley is a junior defensive tackle and the program's top returning player on the defensive line. He made 54 tackles last season for the Tigers with five sacks on one of the nation's best pass-rushing defensive lines. His timetable for a return to football remains unclear.
