Brandon Marshall has yet to catch a pass with the New York Jets, but Gang Green is already handing him more money.
NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Saturday that the team has reworked the veteran receiver's contract and raised Marshall's pay along the way, upping his salary from $24.3 million to $26 million over the next three seasons, per NFLPA records.
Marshall's base salary now jumps from $7.5 million to a guaranteed $9 million in 2015. Set to make $9.5 million in 2016 (up from $7.9 million) and $7.5 million in 2017, the 31-year-old pass catcher will earn a total of $1.3 million more in guarantees over the life of the deal.
Currently living with Geno Smith, Marshall finally gives the young Jets quarterback a bona fide No. 1 target across from Eric Decker. With blazing rookie Devin Smith in the mix, New York should be fun to watch through the air come September.
