Darrius Caldwell intends to apply for 2015 supplemental draft

For any NFL club that just didn't feel quite satisfied with its draft outcome for a pass rusher this year, help could be forthcoming. West Georgia's Darrius Caldwell will apply for inclusion in the NFL's annual supplemental draft, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Caldwell (6-foot-6, 245 pounds) led the Gulf South Conference in sacks with 12, and recorded 18.5 tackles for loss last season for the Wolves. Caldwell's college career took him to three schools, beginning with Illinois, before he transferred to Pearl River Community College. According to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, Caldwell is attempting to make himself available in the supplemental draft due to academic eligibility issues.

The supplemental draft, held in July, allows teams to pick a player who was not available in the regular draft at the expense of a corresponding pick the following year. For instance, if all 32 teams pass on Caldwell for three rounds, but he is selected in the fourth, the team that picked him would lose a fourth-round pick in 2016.
