Bruce Irvin tweets Seahawks won't pick up option

Pete Carroll wants Bruce Irvin in Seattle for a long time.

He just doesn't want to pick up Irvin's fifth-year option.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport noted that it was unlikely the Seahawks would exercise the option on the pass rusher, who was chosen in the first round back in 2012. He's had 16.5 sacks in three years.

Irvin tweeted the news officially on Sunday.

"Faced way tougher adversity getting outta them streets coming up! That's (stuff) is nothing! (EXPLETIVE) THAT OPTION!"

Obviously, he didn't say stuff.

But it sounds like Irvin is taking the whole thing fairly well. Chances are Seattle thinks they can get him for less than the designated number, or will at least try to. It doesn't necessarily mean they want to let him go after this year.

Then again, Seattle ended up letting offensive lineman James Carpenter go this offseason in similar fashion.
