Steelers' Porter: The James Harrison of before is over

Steelers fans can expect to see less of James Harrison next season.

The Pittsburgh pass rusher, set to turn 37 on Monday, is penciled in for a reduced role, according to linebackers coach Joey Porter.

"He knows where he is," Porter said Saturday, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I told him already, the James Harrison (of before) is over."

Said Porter: "He's going to play his role, and his role is going to be effective. He knows what we're asking out of him, and he's going to be ready to answer the bell."

Harrison played 432 snaps over 11 games last season, piling up 5.5 sacks and 45 combined tackles. After adding Kentucky's Bud Dupree in the first round of the draft, though, the Steelers have found their replacement for the retired Jason Worilds.

Harrison's reduced role makes sense in May, before injuries mount and chaos sets in. But after the veteran was surprisingly productive last season, Pittsburgh might be singing a different tune by season's end.
