The Texans are a candidate to possibly bolster their running back position this week by adding Todd Gurley, the draft's top player at the position. In the meantime, they've added some help from free agency.
The team has agreed to terms with running back Chris Polk, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Polk recently became available after the Eagles rescinded his restricted free agent offer.Â
It's not a huge surprise that the Texans would have interest in Polk. He fits best in the one-cut zone scheme that has helped to make Arian Foster into a star over the last five years. Polk won't be promised a roster spot, but he can compete with Alfred Blue.
This is a worthwhile flier for the Texans. Polk has averaged 4.7 yards-per-carry in 57 career attempts, although he's not much of a help in the passing game.
