Chiefs among four NFL teams at Cedric Reed's private workout

Texas defensive end Cedric Reed, who wasn't able to participate at the NFL Scouting Combine or at the Longhorns' pro day because of a torn meniscus, held a private workout for four NFL teams Thursday.

Reed, who had surgery in January, worked out at Texas for the Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins. He ran the 3-cone drill and short shuttle, but did not run or do any jumps.

Reed has a lot of natural ability but never performed up to his potential while at Texas. He was the type of player who showed effort sometimes and rested sometimes. I think he'll be a late-round draft choice, though, because of his size (6-foot-5, 269 pounds) and skills.
