The parade of top draft prospects visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars this week continues with a pair of Alabama stars who are at the club's facility Wednesday -- one of whom could be an ideal fit for the team's draft needs.
Running back T.J. Yeldon and safety Landon Collins are in Jacksonville just a day after Tide star wide receiver Amari Cooper was there, according to bamaonline.com's Travis Reier. While Collins is expected to be a late-first round pick long after the Jaguars pick at No. 3 overall, Yeldon could be exactly what the Jaguars need, and available at the right time in the draft to get him.
The club has a need at the running back position, and Yeldon is among a deep group of running backs whom the Jaguars could strongly consider. Yeldon averaged more than 1,000 yards per season over three years at Alabama before, like Collins, declaring early draft entry as a junior. He is a capable receiver out of the backfield, as well, and didn't give way to a third-down substitute at the college level. An AFC scout told College Football 24/7 that Yeldon could potentially be the third running back drafted after Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon and Georgia's Todd Gurley. Jacksonville's second-day picks are No. 36 overall (second round) and No. 67 overall (third round).
Any Jaguars interest in Collins would likely require packaging the No. 36 pick to trade up for a second pick in the first round. Collins is expected to be the first safety chosen in the draft.
It's been a busy week of hosting players in Jacksonville. A lengthy list of first-round prospects have come through the Jaguars' facility this week, including Cooper, Gurley, Gordon, Leonard Williams, Randy Gregory, DeVante Parker, Vic Beasley, Shane Ray, and Dante Fowler, Jr.
