The Tennessee Titans are staying busy as the clock ticks down to Chicago and the 2015 NFL Draft.
Case in point? The team is set to bring in Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota on Thursday for a pre-draft visit, according to NFL Media reporter Albert Breer.
Mariota has been involved in a flurry of activity this week, and it appears the stop in Nashville is just the latest on his draft odyssey.
On Tuesday, he held a private workout for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who pick one spot ahead of Tennessee and hold the No. 1 overall pick. It's widely assumed that workout was simply the Bucs doing their due diligence, since they are expected to take Florida State's Jameis Winston.
Mariota, however, remains a possibility for the Titans at No. 2.
Tennessee has already worked out Mariota in Eugene following his pro day, and -- given the team's need at the position -- Mariota will probably be given strong consideration if the Titans opt to stay in their current spot in the draft. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has hinted the Titans would be interested in adding a quarterback this year, but it remains to be seen if they are sold on making Mariota the guy under center long term.
If they decide to pass on Mariota, the Titans are also playing host to the other potential selection with the second pick this week, USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Williams, considered by many to be the most talented player in the draft, is visiting the team later this week, according to reports, and has already indicated that Tennessee is showing strong interest in him.
It's still too early to say for certain which way Whisenhunt and the Titans will go with the No. 2 overall pick, but they are certainly giving every indication that Mariota will be one of the players they will fully evaluate.
