Adrian Peterson's reinstatement meeting concludes

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said at last month's NFL Annual Meeting that he was still awaiting clarity from the league before he could move forward with star running back Adrian Peterson.

He will be getting his wish soon.

Peterson's reinstatement meeting with the league has concluded, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, per a league source.

According to NFL Media's Judy Battista, Peterson was accompanied by a number of lawyers and representatives and met with Commissioner Roger Goodell. The meeting was really about Peterson the father and family man; the NFL wanted to hear how he's progressing with the counseling and therapy that they prescribed as part of their plan to reinstate him, Battista added. A decision is expected in the coming days.

The meeting was ahead of schedule for Peterson, who was supposed to be eligible for reinstatement on April 15.

The 30-year-old running back, who agreed to a plea deal in November of no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault, is still on the Commissioner's Exempt List.

Having some clarity on Peterson's situation could soon answer some of the lingering questions surrounding the face of Minnesota's franchise.

For one, we'll be closer to finding out if Peterson is playing in purple and gold next year. Throughout the last month, there has been a growing sentiment from Peterson's camp that he'd prefer to play elsewhere.

The Cardinals and Cowboys have both been rumored destinations.
