Appalachian State pro day: Speedy DB could intrigue teams

Six players worked out indoors on FieldTurf at Appalachian State's pro day March 6. None of the players was at the combine, but one had an impressive workout and could be brought in as a free agent.

Joel Ross (5-foot-10 1/8, 182 pounds), a cornerback, ran a 4.40 and 4.46 in the 40. He had a 32 1/2-inch vertical and 9-9 broad jump. He had a 4.17 short shuttle and 6.97 3-cone drill. And he had 17 strength lifts.

Ross looked good in his position drills, and I think he'll get a look as a free agent because of his speed, along with the fact he plays a position a lot of teams are looking to upgrade.
