Tre McBride draws 18 NFL teams at William and Mary pro day

The wide receivers coach of the Cincinnati Bengals and assistant wide receivers coach of the Seattle Seahawks were among representatives from 18 NFL teams on hand for William and Mary's pro day March 19. Eight players, plus various prospects from smaller schools in the area, worked outdoors on FieldTurf, but the guy everyone was there to see was wide receiver Tre McBride.

» 2015 pro day schedule, results and analysis

McBride (6-0 3/8, 206 pounds) is a wide receiver who's probably going to surprise a lot of people who aren't draftniks. The fact that 18 teams were there to see him gives you a good hint of his abilities, and he's also had separate workouts with six teams.

At his pro day, McBride had a good workout and stood on his impressive combine numbers, including a 4.39 40-yard dash, a 38-inch vertical, a 6.96 3-cone drill, and a 4.08 short shuttle.

Shawn Ballard (5-10 1/4, 186 pounds), another wide receiver, ran 4.68 and 4.68 in the 40. He had a 35-inch vertical and a 9-8 broad jump. He ran a 4.37 short shuttle and a 7.15 3-cone drill. He has 8 7/8-inch hands and did 13 strength lifts. Ballard lacks speed, but has very reliable hands and should be a free agent.
