Jim Harbaugh's son sends letter to recruit's girlfriend

The Michigan staff really wants touted high school tight end Naseir Upshur, a consensus four-star recruit from Philadelphia.

How bad do the Wolverines' coaches want him? Think hand-written letters -- to Upshur's girlfriend.

Letter-writer Jay Harbaugh is Michigan's tight end coach and the son of head coach Jim Harbaugh. Jay spent the past three seasons working for his uncle, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh, as an offensive quality-control coach.

Upshur (6-foot-3, 233 pounds) attends Philadelphia's Imhotep Institute, and also is being recruited by the likes of Alabama, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State.

Jay looks to be following in his dad's footsteps. Earlier this month, Jim attempted to woo Concord (Calif.) De La Salle defensive tackle Boss Tagaloa (and, man, what a name for a defensive lineman) in the same way Tagaloa attempted to woo a prom date.

For some reason, we don't think Jim used the same plan of attack when he was trying to woo NFL free agents.
