Mike McCarthy: Jordy Nelson underwent hip surgery

Jordy Nelson is on the mend after posting career highs in receptions and yards in his first All-Pro season.

Coach Mike McCarthy revealed at the NFL Annual Meeting on Wednesday that Nelson underwent a "clean-up" hip surgery after the Pro Bowl. (An earlier report said the surgery was to Nelson's knee.)

The Green Bay Packers' No. 1 receiver is expected to be recovered in six to eight weeks. McCarthy added that the procedure was unrelated to Nelson's 2013 knee surgery.

Nelson should be back to full health by the time he turns 30 in late May.

When training camp rolls around this summer, he'll be making sweet music with Aaron Rodgers in an offense that McCarthy believes has potential to be one of the best in football history.
