Reggie Bush visiting New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are zeroing in on a replacement for passing-down back Shane Vereen, who defected to the New York Giants earlier this week.

Reggie Bush is visiting the Patriots, reports NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, via a source informed of the former Detroit Lions running back's plans.

Bush is coming off a Wednesday visit with the San Francisco 49ers.

As soon as it appeared that Vereen would price himself out of the Patriots plans, we viewed Bush as the ideal replacement. He can slot into Vereen's pass-catching role, while playing with a great quarterback and chasing a Super Bowl ring in the twilight years of his career.

Now that the Patriots have lost out onPercy Harvin, they could move quickly to sign Bush.
