Marcus Mariota to work out for Buccaneers, Jets, Chargers

Oregon's pro day might not have been what former Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariotawas hoping for, but his opportunities to leave a better final impression on various NFL clubs haven't run out.

The Heisman Trophy winner has scheduled private workouts with the New York Jets on March 28, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 9 and the San Diego Chargers on April 15, according to a College Football 24/7 source. The Buccaneers hold the No. 1 overall pick of the NFL draft and are in need of a quarterback. Mariota's workout there could help the club decide between he and Florida State's Jameis Winston as the No. 1 pick of the draft.

According to the source, Mariota also has scheduled a visit to Buccaneers' facility on March 16. The Buccaneers have already hosted Winston for a visit at the team facility.

The Jets also have a quarterback need, and hold the No. 6 pick of the draft.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater overcame a lackluster performance at Louisville's pro day last year with some impressive private workouts, and ended up being the last pick of the first round in the 2014 draft. Mariota doesn't figure to last nearly that long, however, even if he doesn't beat out Winston as the first player chosen at his position.
