Five NFL teams were on hand to watch four players work out in very poor conditions at Furman's pro day Thursday. It had been raining earlier in the day, causing the field to be very wet, which had a big effect on times.
Gary Wilkins (6-foot-1 1/4, 240 pounds), a defensive end whose father, Gary, played in the NFL, posted 40 times of 4.76 and 4.80, but those times probably aren't indicative of his speed because the field was so poor. Wilkins also had a 36-inch vertical, a 9-9 broad jump, a 4.67 short shuttle, a 7.31 3-cone drill, and 23 strength lifts.
Safety Marcus McMorris (5-foot-11 1/4, 203 pounds) clocked a fast 3-cone drill of 6.94 seconds, which is very good, considering the weather and condition of the field. He also ran the 40 twice in 4.55 seconds and posted a 37-inch vertical, a 9-7 broad jump, a 4.20 shuttle, and 18 strength lifts. Brian Adams, a scout for the New Orleans Saints, worked McMorris out in position drills. McMorris has a chance to be a priority free agent.
