The Packers made a big splash before the start of free agency with their rich new deal for Randall Cobb. We'll soon find out if that contract will keep the team from keeping another homegrown talent in the building.
Right tackle Bryan Bulaga is ticketed for free agency and is said to be seeking a contract worth between $7 million and $8 million per year, two NFL sources familiar with the offensive tackle market told the Journal Sentinel.
The Packers entered the weekend with $32 million in cap space, a number that will be shaved down once the official figures in Cobb's four-year, $40 million deal come out. One of the sources told the Sentinel the Packers have "no interest" in going to $7 million annually for Bulaga, who graded out as ProFootballFocus.com's 16th-best tackle last season.
Third-year pro Don Barclay is the top in-house option if Bulaga bolts. Barclay missed all of last season after suffering a torn ACL during training camp.
Bulaga -- ranked No. 15 on our Top 101 free agents list -- will have no shortage of suitors on the open market. Sources told the Sentinel that the Jaguars, Redskins and Buccaneers all are in line to make a play for the versatile tackle.
