Will Mark Sanchez return to Philadelphia Eagles?

Mark Sanchez might opt not to change addresses again this offseason.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Sanchez have a "strong mutual interest" in reuniting next season, NJ.com reported Saturday.

The three-day negotiating window -- when agents can talk with teams outside of the one for which a player previously played -- begins Saturday at noon ET. During that time Sanchez could find out if there is a destination with a sunnier chance of starting than Philadelphia.

The three-day window can also spurn teams to re-sign their own players.

Sanchez is one of the top quarterbacks to hit the open market -- which tells you everything you need to know about this free agent class of quarterbacks.

The report of mutual interest in Philly indicates that perhaps Sanchez believes the Eagles might be his best chance to play in 2015. Another alternative is that if he has to be a backup, why not do it where he is comfortable and will get more practice reps under Chip Kelly?

The Eagles coach has been lukewarm with his praise of Nick Foles this offseason and hasn't announced the incumbent would regain his starting gig after missing the end of last season with a collarbone injury. While Sanchez ended 2014 with a 5-4 starting record and his play remained erratic, he actually led an offense that averaged more points (27 per game) against better competition than Foles (22).

There is also the chance that Sanchez re-ups and ends up as the No. 3 quarterback in the room if the Eagles end up swinging a blockbuster trade to land Kelly's former college protégé, Marcus Mariota, in the upcoming draft.
