Lance Moore released by Pittsburgh Steelers

Lance Moore lasted just one year in Pittsburgh after spending eight in New Orleans.

The Steelers announced Monday that Moore has been released one year into a two-year, $3 million contract.

Moore, 31, was due $1.5 million in nonguaranteed salary. He had reportedly requested his release after rookie Martavis Bryant put a stranglehold on the third receiver job down the stretch.

An afterthought in Todd Haley's offense, Moore managed just 14 receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Although it's not a position of need with Bryant, Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton at the forefront, the Steelers will be in the market for a developmental wideout after cutting Moore and losing Justin Brown on waivers.

Likely to encounter trouble landing guaranteed money, Moore will not be listed among Around The NFL's top 101 free agents.
