Jadeveon Clowney's 40 time remains a giant feat

INDIANAPOLIS -- One of the best running segments of NFL Network's combine coverage is the simulcam of multiple players running the 40-yard dash at once. It's a virtual footrace of players from past and present.

During Saturday's telecast, we got to see Jadeveon Clowney, J.J. Watt, Ndamukong Suh and Jameis Winston square off. Clowney -- who ran an almost impossible 4.53 last year -- blew away the field by multiple strides.

It was a reminder of the raw athletic ability of Clowney, who went No. 1 overall to the Texans last May. It was also somewhat depressing, knowing what became of Clowney's rookie year and the uncertainty of his recovery from microfracture knee surgery.

Both Texans coach Bill O'Brien and general manager Rick Smith expressed optimism this week that Clowney will regain his old form and be ready for the start of the 2015 season. The video above makes you hope they're not hiding an uglier truth.

The latest Around The NFL Podcast breaks down all the latest from the combine and gives updates on Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson. Find more Around The NFL content on NFL NOW.
