Leonard Williams aims for No. 1, would love to play for Raiders

INDIANAPOLIS -- The talk all week at the NFL Scouting Combine has been dominated by quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.

That's not unexpected, considering both are Heisman Trophy winners and are expected to be taken early in the 2015 NFL Draft. But the focus on the two stars has overshadowed the player many believe to be the most talented available: USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams.

"I would say that, based on previous years, sometimes it's taking a chance when you take a quarterback. You never know what you're going to get," Williams said, making his pitch to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and others. "I would say that I'm going to bring the disruption, I'm going to bring that physicalness, I'm going to get to the quarterback and get some sacks."

NFL Media analysts believe Williams won't fall past the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 3 overall pick, but there's always a chance a draft-day slide occurs. While Williams, who was raised in Florida, would prefer to be putting on a Buccaneers jersey and becoming the No. 1 overall pick, he said he's OK if the fall isn't too far and he winds up with the Oakland Raiders.

"The Raiders have kind of been like my favorite, hometown team. I love their colors, I love their tradition, I love their defense," Williams said. "I want to go as high as possible and shooting for that number one spot. But if I did end up dropping to the Raiders, I would love to play for them."

That could become a reality in a few months via trade, but if Williams winds up impressing like many expect at Lucas Oil Stadium during drills Sunday, he's more likely to be asking around for real estate agents in Tampa Bay or Nashville.
