Kareem Jackson would 'love' to re-sign with Texans

Kareem Jackson isn't ready to walk away from the Houston Texans.

Set to become a free agent next month, the 26-year-old cornerback said this week that he hopes to stay with the team that made him a first-round pick in 2010.

"I'd love to be back here," Jackson said, per ESPN.com's Tania Ganguli. "What coach (Bill) O'Brien has brought here with the coaches and stuff like that, with the system and stuff like that, I definitely want to be a part of what's starting to happen last year and progressing into the future."

In our Texans offseason forecast, which dropped Friday morning, we listed Jackson as Houston's second top free-agent priority behind quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Romeo Crennel used the versatile Jackson both outside and in the slot last season. He even saw a few snaps at safety, giving the Texans a flexible athlete who can play all over the field.

Only J.J. Watt graded higher for Houston's defense in 2014, per Pro Football Focus, with Jackson ranking as the seventh-best player in coverage at his position league-wide. Just now entering the prime of his career, Jackson is a strong bet to stay put.
