Todd Bowles to interview with Jets, then Falcons

The New York Jets will get the first crack at hiringTodd Bowles this week.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Bowles will head to talk to the Jets for his second interview before the Cardinals defensive coordinator meets with the Falcons, per several sources involved in the situation.

If the Jets feel Bowles is their guy, there is a chance they might not let him leave without a deal.

As Rapoport noted, two years ago Mike McCoy scheduled interviews with the Chargers and then the Cardinals, but San Diego never let him get out of town.

Getting a prized target first could give the Jets leverage if the brass believes the defensive guru is the man they want to lead Gang Green.

Some other notes from Rapoport early on Tuesday:

1) The Bears' job is the one John Fox wants, and he's expected to interview for it, Rapoport reported. The Bears spotlighted young, up-and-coming coaches until they hired general manager Ryan Pace, who's 37. Now they want a veteran to pair with the younger GM, which could be Fox.

2) Fox also might not get Falcons consideration, per Rapoport.
