Mike McCarthy: Eddie Lacy 'fresh' for Packers offense

With Aaron Rodgers' strained calf in the spotlight, running back Eddie Lacy's late-season hot streak is flying under the radar leading up to Sunday's Divisional Round matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

In contrast to last January when Lacy was sporting a walking boot, the second-year power back is hitting peak form just in time for the postseason.

"Eddie, you know he feels great," coach Mike McCarthy said Friday, via the Green Bay Press Gazette, "you know we wanted him fresh for the playoffs, and he's there."

Lacy was the only player in the league to exceed 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the season's final nine games, totaling 1,111 yards and nine touchdowns over that stretch. After starting the season slowly against a string of stout run defenses, Lacy has averaged 5.1 yards per carry and over 10.0 yards per reception since Week 5.

"We just started clicking," Lacy explained. "I don't look too much into anything. Once you get on a roll, I'm going to let it just keep rolling. But we're all on the same page, making it hard for defenses to pick out if we're going to pass or throw the ball. We have a great balanced offense."

Barring an in-game aggravation of Rodgers' calf injury, the Cowboys won't have the luxury of stacking the box to stop Lacy.

Dallas might have the NFL's rushing leader in DeMarco Murray, but Green Bay boasts the hotter backfield hand.
