The Dolphins will add another voice to their front office

The team announced Tuesday that Mike Tannenbaum will be Miami's executive vice president football operations starting Feb. 1.

The former New York Jets' general manager served as a Dolphins consultant last summer.

Tannenbaum is currently a coaching agent representing several candidates, including Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Tannenbaum will continue to play his role as agent until Quinn is hired, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, per sources informed of the team's plans.

The Jets made three playoff trips with Tannenbaum at the helm. His early tenure in New York included the signing of Rex Ryan and two AFC Championship Games. However, the end of his tenure was marred most notably by the Tim Tebow signing and Mark Sanchez extension.

Dolphins hired general manager Dennis Hickey last year, who will report to Tannenbaum.

Coach Joe Philbin -- whom owner Stephen Ross announced during the season would return in 2015 -- will report to the owner, as will Tannenbaum.
