When Maryland moved from the ACC to the Big Ten, many wondered how many of its players would be able to easily translate to the new league.
There were no such questions asked about Terrapins wide receiver Stefon Diggs, though. He has been easily one of the team's top playmakers ever since he committed to the program as a hot-shot recruit from just down the road.
Though there was some talk of the junior sticking around to build off this year's 7-6 campaign, Diggs told the Baltimore Sun on Saturday that he would be moving on from college and declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot, 190-pound speedster is highly regarded for his ability to separate and beat his man deep, but has dealt with a litany of injuries over the past two seasons that have hampered his production. As a sophomore, Diggs missed six games after suffering a broken leg and his 2014 season was cut short after he was suspended for one contest and suffered a lacerated kidney that kept him out of two more.
Diggs still was able to end his career with the Terps on a personal high note in a Foster Farms Bowl loss to Stanford, catching 10 passes for 138 yards to demonstrate he was one of the few offensive threats for Maryland.
Diggs, however, was on NFL Media analyst Charles Davis' list of 10 underclassmen who should forgo the 2015 NFL Draft.
"Diggs has been well-hyped since his high school days, but he's not yet had the breakout year we've been waiting to see from him," Davis wrote. "He's battled injuries, and another year with the Terrapins would give him a chance to have that big year that has eluded him. Diggs could prove his durability and give his stock a big boost."
Diggs finished this season with 792 yards on 62 catches, with five of them going for touchdowns.
