Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 14: Kickers

Print

Start 'Em & Sit 'Em is the ultimate look at the weekly NFL matchups and how they'll affect your fantasy football team. All starts and sits are based on standard scoring leagues. Obvious fantasy starters like Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch will not be featured. For your final lineup decisions, check our lineup rankings.

Start 'Em

vs.
Start of the Week - Mason Crosby vs. Atlanta Falcons

Crosby has been hot, scoring 11 or more fantasy points in three of his last four games. That includes a 14-point performance in last week's win over the New England Patriots. He'll be a nice option once again in Week 14, as Crosby will face a Falcons defense that has allowed an average of almost 10 fantasy points to home kickers.

vs.
Stephen Gostkowski vs. San Diego Chargers

Gostkowski has slowed down a bit over the last three weeks, but he should get back to his high scoring ways in an important matchup with the Chargers. The Bolts defense is dealing with some injuries and could struggle to keep the Patriots from scoring. That could lead to plenty of field goal opportunities for Gostkowski and his owners.

vs.
Connor Barth vs. Buffalo Bills

This is less about the matchup and more about the fact that Barth made some serious noise (17 fantasy points) in his first game as a member of the Broncos. Doing what Brandon McManus could not, he made the most of his opportunities behind an elite offense and produced in the stat sheets. Consider Barth a No. 1 kicker now.

vs.
Phil Dawson vs. Oakland Raiders

Dawson has scored a combined eight fantasy points in his last two games, making him tough to trust in the first round of the postseason. However, owners who like to stream kickers can do worse than use the veteran in Oakland. The Raiders have surrendered an average of almost 10 fantasy points per game to opposing kickers in 2014.

Good matchups: Blair Walsh vs. New York Jets, Randy Bullock at Jacksonville Jaguars, Josh Brown at Tennessee Titans

Sit 'Em

vs.
Sit of the Week - Greg Zuerlein vs. Washington Redskins

Zuerlein is coming off a solid 10-point performance against the Raiders, and he's now scored an impressive 36 fantasy points in his last three games. Still, it's tough to trust Zuerlein on the road. In his last five roadies, the veteran kicker has scored a combined 20 fantasy points. I'd keep him bench against the Redskins in D.C.

vs.
Dan Carpenter vs. Denver Broncos

Carpenter has been on fire in the stat sheets, scoring a combined 33 fantasy points in his last three games. However, the matchup dictates that he could be a risk this weekend in Denver. The Broncos have not surrendered more than five fantasy points to a visiting kicker in each of their last three games played in the Mile High City.

vs.
Matt Bryant vs. Green Bay Packers

Bryant went off in Week 13, scoring 17 fantasy points in a win over the Arizona Cardinals. He's also scored a combined 51 fantasy points in his last four games, which makes Bryant tough to bench. Just keep in mind that the Packers have surrendered an average of fewer than six fantasy points per game to kickers at Lambeau Field.

vs.
Shaun Suisham vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Suisham has scored nine or more fantasy points in three straight games, so he's definitely been on a hot streak for owners. However, take a look at his career numbers in Cincinnati ... in four games, he's kicked just seven field goals. What's more, he's failed to score more than seven fantasy points in three of those contests.

Bad matchups: Josh Scobee vs. Houston Texans, Billy Cundiff vs. Indianapolis Colts, Nick Folk at Minnesota Vikings
