Rodger Saffold: Wish we hung 76 points on Raiders

Sunday was personal for Rodger Saffold.

The St. Louis Rams tackle had circled a Week 13 matchup against Oakland, and with good reason. Saffold was actually a member of the Raiders for a brief time, agreeing to a big free-agent pact last March. But Oakland wiggled out of the deal after learning Saffold needed shoulder surgery, paving the way for Saffold's return to St. Louis.

At the time, Saffold didn't rip the Raiders, who had invited his family to Oakland for an introductory press conference. But after a 52-0 pasting of his almost-team, Saffold let down his guard.

"It was everything you'd want out of the type of situation that I was in," Saffold said, according to CSNBayArea.com. "So I was real excited to go out here and get this 'W.' I had no idea it was going to be like this. But defense played great, offense played great. I wish we would've got 76 points on the board, but that's OK."

Saffold arrived at the Edward Jones Dome dressed in all black before Sunday's blowout, ready to bury the Raiders.

"I think we pretty much achieved that," Saffold told the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The Raiders' decision to back out of the deal end up costing Saffold a whole lot of scratch. He'd agreed to a five-year, $42.5-million contract with Oakland before settling for a five-year, $31.3 million deal with the Rams.

If you lost $11 million in potential earnings you'd wear black, too.
