For the first time all season long, there was no movement among the top four of the College Football Playoff selection committee's top 25.
The top seven teams remained in the same order as a week ago when Alabama ascended to the No. 1 ranking, with Oregon, Florida State and Mississippi State following the Crimson Tide in the top four.
Despite an impressive win over Oklahoma State on Saturday, Baylor still couldn't move past TCU despite its head-to-head win earlier this season. The Horned Frogs remained outside of the top four after taking the week off ahead of a Thanksgiving showdown with in-state rival Texas.
The most notable change in the committee's top 25 came at the bottom of the poll, with the appearance of Group of Five conference teams for the first time this year. After surviving a close call against UAB, undefeated Marshall made its debut at No. 24. That bit of good news for Thundering Herd fans was met with a bit of disappointment, however, with Mountain West favorite Boise State checking in just one spot ahead of them at No. 23. The highest-ranked Group of Five champion automatically earns a berth in one of the prestigious New Year's Six bowl games and a big financial windfall for their conference.
Like Minnesota a week before, Utah was the surprise team at No. 25 despite suffering a loss to No. 11 Arizona over the weekend. The Utes are the only four-loss team in the poll and help give the Pac-12 five teams in the top 25 -- four of which crack the top 15.
As expected, the poll resulted in another strong showing by SEC West teams. Two of the division's members make up the top four, and both of this week's rivalry games that will help determine their side of the league will feature a pair of top 20 contests.
