Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 12: Kickers

Start 'Em & Sit 'Em is the ultimate look at the weekly NFL matchups and how they'll affect your fantasy football team. All starts and sits are based on standard scoring leagues. Obvious fantasy starters like Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch will not be featured. For your final lineup decisions, check our lineup rankings.

Byes: Carolina, Pittsburgh

Start 'Em

Start of the Week - Adam Vinatieri vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

To put it simply, Vinatieri owns the Jaguars. He's kicked two or more field goals in five of his last six games against them, including three conversions in each of his last three straight meetings. Back in Week 3, the old veteran put up 14 fantasy points against this AFC South opponent. He's a virtual lock to produce nice totals.

Justin Tucker vs. New Orleans Saints

Tucker is in the middle of a slow stretch from a statistical perspective, scoring a combined eight fantasy points in his last two games. However, I see him rebounding this week in what could be a high scoring game in New Orleans. After 11 weeks, the Saints have surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points (9.2 PPG) to kickers.

Dan Bailey vs. New York Giants

Bailey's totals have dipped in recent weeks, as he's scored just 19 fantasy points in his last three games combined. I still like him this week, though, as the Giants have allowed an average of almost nine fantasy points per game to kickers. In fact, the G-Men have given up 34 fantasy points to the last three kickers they've faced.

Cody Parkey vs. Tennessee Titans

Parkey has scored double-digit fantasy points just once in his last four games, but he's still maintaining a nice level of fantasy production. His totals are even better at home, where he is averaging an impressive 11 fantasy points per game. The Titans have been generous to kickers this season, so Parkey should have a solid line.

Good matchups: Billy Cundiff at Atlanta Falcons, Dan Carpenter vs. New York Jets, Patrick Murray at Chicago Bears

Sit' Em

Sit of the Week - Greg Zuerlein vs. San Diego Chargers

Zuerlein went off last week, making five field goals (including two from 50-plus yards) and scoring a ridiculous 20 fantasy points in a surprising win over the Denver Broncos. If you pick him up and start him this week, though, I feel you're chasing the points. Zuerlein had put up a combined 23 points in his previous six contests.

Brandon McManus vs. Miami Dolphins

McManus was supposed to emerge into a solid fantasy kicker in Denver, but the opposite as been true. In fact, he's barely even startable when the matchup isn't favorable. That's the case this week, as the Dolphins have allowed an average of fewer than seven fantasy points to opposing kickers this season. Keep McManus on the bench.

Blair Walsh vs. Green Bay Packers

Walsh put up a solid nine fantasy points in last week's loss to the Chicago Bears, but this week's matchup against the Packers makes him a tough sell. Green Bay has surrendered an average of fewer than seven fantasy points per game to kickers. Walsh has also had one or fewer field goals in three of five career games against them.

Mike Nugent vs. Houston Texans

I listed Nugent as a start last week, and he responded with nine fantasy points. Unfortunately, this week's matchup against the Texans isn't as favorable. In fact, their defense has allowed an average of just six fantasy points per game to opposing kickers. Nugent has also kicked just three field goals in his last three road games.

Bad matchups: Shayne Graham vs. Baltimore Ravens (MNF), Josh Brown vs. Dallas Cowboys, Kai Forbath at San Francisco 49ers
