Adrian Peterson's appeal hearing on his status on the Commissioner's Exempt List took place via conference call Monday and lasted less than 30 minutes, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per league and union sources.
Monday's appeal hearing follows a Friday review held by the league that Peterson did not attend.
Earlier in the week, the union filed an expedited, non-injury grievance to remove Peterson from the Commissioner's Exempt list "based on explicit language in a signed agreement dated September 18, 2014."
Rapoport previously has reported that while Peterson is facing a six-game suspension under the league's personal-conduct policy, his punishment would likely be shorter than that with a compromise based on time served and loss of pay.
When Peterson is indeed given clearance to return, the Vikings believe the public will be welcoming of him, Rapoport reported, per team sources. Rapoport previously reported that Vikes executives were divided on whether they wanted Peterson to return immediately upon reinstatement.
Peterson took the first step toward a potential comeback last week when he accepted a plea deal of no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault.
