Colorado State senior quarterback Garrett Grayson, considered a potential third-day draft pick, threw for 390 yards and five touchdowns Saturday as the Rams downed Wyoming 45-31.
Grayson (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) finished 18-of-21 and completed his first 13 attempts. He had three TD passes in the first half, then capped the Rams' first drive of the second half with another scoring toss that gave CSU a 31-3 lead.
It was Grayson's fourth 300-yard game of the season, and the five touchdowns were a single-game career high.
Grayson has thrown a school-record 53 TD passes, and he also holds the school record for career passing yards (7,640); last week, he broke the old record held by Kelly Stouffer, who was a first-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1987.
Sophomore wide receiver Rashard Higgins (6-2, 188), who entered the game second in the nation in receiving yards with 963, had five receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Colorado State (7-1) has won six in a row and plays its next three games against teams with losing records. The Rams definitely are in the hunt for the non-Power Five conferences' automatic bid into one of the playoff-affiliated bowls.
